Clara Sandoval

Clara Sandoval is a lecturer at Essex University and director of its Masters programme in International Human Rights Law. She has engaged in transitional justice efforts globally, including as a visiting professional at the International Criminal Court in 2005, where she assisted the Court on regional jurisprudence in awarding reparations, and as a member of the IBA-FCO mission to Colombia in 2007 that assessed the implementation of the demobilisation and prosecution process in the country.

Clara also engages in human rights litigation, training and capacity building with a number of NGOs including the IBA, REDRESS and Amnesty International. The focus of Clara’s recent research is in the area of reparations for gross human rights violations – by the State and by transnational corporations – in processes of transitional justice or post-conflict.
